Our Story
Guided by my heart and my passion for waves and surfing, in 2017 an adventure led me to Lima, Peru, a place that I called home for over 8 years. Working as an adventure tour guide, I came across a small coffee roastery in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This encounter opened my eyes to the rich heritage and vibrant community behind each cup, turning my curiosity into a deep passion.This journey led to the creation of one of the first awarded coffee shop and roasteries in Lima, Caleta Dolsa
As Director of Coffee, Traceability, and Connections at Caleta Dolsa, I built strong relationships with cooperatives and producers while exploring the global coffee scene in LA, NY, Portland, and Europe, learning from some of the best baristas and roasters. Despite the recognition gained, after 08 years I felt the need for a new challenge.
With this extensive knowledge gained from my direct experience with farmers, the land, and world-renowned master roasters, I decided to return to my hometown and bring this passion and our rich story to Badalona, a charming town just outside Barcelona. Here, our coffee is roasted with the same passion and dedication, adding a fresh take to our time-honored traditions.

The name “Amauta,” derived from the ancient Incan term for “wise teacher,” symbolizes our commitment to honoring centuries of coffee tradition. Our beans are ethically sourced and crafted with respect for the craft.

Staying true to our roots

Each chapter of Amauta Coffee is carefully vetted, sourced directly or through our network of small producers who positively impact their communities. We focus on building lasting relationships and fostering human connections in a fast-paced world, nurturing a true sense of community.
Mindfulness guides everything we do, from sourcing our coffees to choosing our packaging. We strive to establish mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with our farms, partners, and collaborators.
As an independent business, we keep our team small and operations local, prioritizing the well-being of our team over growth for growth’s sake. This approach ensures every decision we make aligns with our commitment to quality, sustainability, and community.
Our Sourcing Model
After 8 years working with coffee at origin, from sourcing, developing projects with farmers and seeking new opportunities for them and our projects, we saw the lack of information, traceability, rolls off cooperatives and big exporters / Importers. Since then, and being able to see the reality from a point of view from the origin, we understood that buying direct to the farmer it's the way to create a real short time impact, making coffee growers a sustainable practice, to keep growing, improving and innovating from the farm level.
